Since we quietly launched our MHK/Manifesto pages just a week ago, we've already had over 400 downloads of MHK manifestos!

It's reassuring to us that people are taking an interest in what their MHKs are saying and we hope this will contribute towards a more responsive government going forward.

Look out for some new features soon, and of course our public event with Heather Brooke next week.

The Chief Minister stated "...such a piece of legislation (FOI) might come at a high cost" in his Keys answer (01.11.11).

Later he went on to say  "we are basing that at the moment on the experience in Jersey, where the cost ran into many millions to actually get it established and I think there is an annual  running cost of somewhere in the region of ¬£1 million a year."

In a subsequent interview for Manx Radio  he again referred to Jersey "...but we must understand the fact that in jersey for example it cost them over ¬£4 million pounds to bring in the original structure and I think the annual running cost is over a ¬£1 million...."

Mr Bell you are not right.

The big surprise in the composition of  Allan Bell's Ministerial line-up is that Peter Karran is to be Minister for Education & Children.

Making the announcement the Chief Minister said:
‚ÄėThe public expect a united and mature response from their politicians to the serious challenges facing our Island. As I have already made clear, I am taking an inclusive approach to the business of Government so that we can all work together for the good of the Isle of Man and its people. I believe the composition of this new Council of Ministers reflects that approach ‚Äď they are a team blending experience and fresh thinking that hopefully will be able to mesh well with the rest of their Tynwald colleagues.‚Äô
