Chris Robertshaw-  the new MHK for Douglas East - takes his seat in Tynwald for the first time on Tuesday 15th June 2010. He won't be sitting long though because he will be on his feet with the opening questions of the day.

Firstly he asks the Chief Minister about Freedom of Information:
"In the light of Recommendation 1 of the Report of the Select Committee on the Report of Redress for Mr and Mrs Spadoni, whether the Chief Minister will now declare a firm date when he intends to introduce an Access to
Government Information Bill?"

And then Question 2, not unexpectedly is:
"What plans he has to conduct an urgent review of the layout and rules of both Proxy and Absent vote forms?"

Robertshaw will later ask 3 more questions about transport, motorcycle licensing and The Children Bill 2010.

Not bad for a debutant and one who is committed not to join this present government.

A pleasing result to the first question - FOI legislation has been drafted and will be offered for an 8 week public consultation on July 6th. The Bill is expected to be presented to Keys in October this year.
He was elected to a Select Committee and late on made his first Tynwald speech in seconding Peter Karran over a planning resolution.
A very eventful first day on the job!
