About one month before the November 2006 General Election we contacted all candidates with a single page Questionnaire based on the PAG Charter.

To each question they could either tick 'agree' or 'disagree' or 'undecided'. In addition there was a space for comments on each question.

Well, did they keep their promises to us? The answer is a resounding NO!

Here's the analysis of our MHKs responses to a few of our questions:

Do you agree to work to achieve the following changes as soon as possible after November 23rd 2006? Agree   Disagree   Don't Know
  • That the Legislative Council is popularly elected by the people
19 0 0
  • That a Freedom of information Act is implemented
17 1 1
  • Will you ACTIVELY develop and support measures to ensure the items you "AGREE" with above are implemented?
13 1 5

19 Responses: 14 completed questionnaire, 5 by letter (Anderson,    Brown,    Craine,    Gill,    Teare)

DID NOT REPLY:

Bell,    Henderson,    Karran,    Corkish,    Cregeen

So, overwhelming support on paper before an Election for two important issues, but amnesiac inactivity in the 5 years following it.
