'A change in the structure of government, but not in its size, which will make little, if any, positive difference'.
That's the verdict of chairman of the Positive Action Group Roger Tomlinson on plans, announced yesterday, by Chief Minister Tony Brown.
Subject to Tynwald's approval later this month, seven government departments will be scrapped, with new ones set up in their place.
Key changes include the creation of a Department of Economic Development, the DHSS being split in two, and farming, fishing and forestry grouped with leisure, sport, the arts and public transport.
Mr Tomlinson says, if anything, the plans will cause greater confusion, and some of the suggestions simply don't make sense.
